Well, I am praying I manage to fathom out how airmiles work before May! LOL

We *may* go to Spain to my parent's house (if the airmiles pay for at least four of the flights- we need 7!) , or my brother's pad in Beaulieu, New Forest...

But at the rate Mark's job is going probably nowhere at all as he's due to go to Warsaw TWICE in May and then July!!

Praying he gets out of this somehow!

Love,

Amanda

Well I have just come back from Tunisia - we went for 1 week (wednesday to Wednesday) came back on 10th March. Unfortunately they had some rain while we were out there - but we were still able to get out & about - definitely warmer than back here.

Managed to get a little sun. Looking for the next holiday now - probably Sept / October time. Not sure where as we are looking at replacing the carpet in the flat with wooden flooring.....

Spooky. Lizziemouse, we're staying at Sandsends as well - from April 10th to the 17th. Staying somewhere called "Carthorse Cottage" on a complex of half a dozen. Will definitely be in that queue at some point - unless they do delivery, of course BigGrin

We're going to Norwich at the weekend for a short break. The weather forecast doesn't look too good though.

We've decided to have few short breaks this year. We shall be returning to our favourite hotel in Suffolk in June.

oo Anthea how exciting, sounds like we may have our own mini meet!! We are at Melrose House, on the seafront.
If you not sure who we are (....or just in case u might want to avoid us!!! ;) - just look out for two very large dogs as we are taking our dear hound and our friends are taking their four legged long legged friend too!
Really looking forward to a break, lets hope we all can grab a bit of sunshine in the months ahead xx

Excellent, Lizzie. Definitely hope we meet up, especially as we'll be missing our border collie, who will be on a holiday of her own down in Essex.

We have booked our holiday and this year we are going to Cyprus staying in a villa in Latchi in the north west of the island. We haven't been to Cyprus before so looking forward to something a bit different. The villa has private pool, table tennis, pool table, tv, dvd and PS2 so should cater for everyone's needs giving me a bit of peace and quiet to soak up the sea views and atmosphere ThumpUp

Not going until August as it isn't possible to take the boys out of school/college but something to look forward to and time to save up!

Anyone been to Cyprus?

Hi Lyn,

Nick and I LOVE Cyprus - and we know Latchi well, as we visited many times when staying at Polis, which is the next place along. The last time we were there was about 2005, and they were building a nice new marina there. Prior to that it was just a tiny harbour, but we took one or two boat trips from there.
The fish restaurants in Latchi are excellent - Nick used to love buying fresh sardines there. We have always stayed at Polis, and I`m happy to recommend restaurants there if you wish. Both Polis and Latchi are quiet, compared with Paphos etc, though I expect they will be busier in August.

We used to hire a car, and go off into the Troodos Mountains, where the air is like wine, and the villages, especially Omadhos are gorgeous.Platres is nice too, and the roads are fairly good, if a bit twisty & turny. Paphos is lovely, and the monastery at Kyykos, also the amphitheatre at Kourion, and Kolossi Castle.I`m not sure how mobile you are, but there are the Paphos mosaics, and the Tombs of the Kings, plus the pillar where St. Paul was supposed to have been whipped. Can you tell I like history?!!

The Akamas Gorge is wild and beautiful, but would be beyond me now.

I`m really quite envious now, thinking of all the places we`ve loved, so I`m sure you`ll have a really good time. The Cypriot people are so very friendly. Oooh, I want to go back!!!!!!

Take care,

Kathleen x

We love Cyprus! If you are down near Kurion and the amphitheatre (well worth a visit), Pissouri is not far away (from what I remember) and was also lovely and has a modern amphitheatre.
The mosaics at Paphos are super too.
We visited Latchi and loved it, especially the fish restaurants.
We would love to go back to Cyprus one day.
Enjoy!

Lizzie, I had a look at Melrose House on the net - what a wonderful view you'll have. We're about 800 yards from the cliff edge, up Dunsley Lane, so we'll still have a view of the sea but only from our bedroom, I think! We'll certainly look out for you and hopefully by then spring will really be in full flow. By the sounds of it you could really do with the break.

Hi Kathleen and Jan

Thank you for all your input on Cyprus, it sounds really fab. ThumpUp

I love all the history too so looking forward to getting out and about and visiting as much as possible. Usually in hot climates I feel tons better and am able to do far more than I ever could at home; usually come home weary though but heyho that's a sign of a good holiday in my book! Would love to have a walk in the Akamas but it might be a bit too much, will have to see!

I have printed out all your tips to be sure of missing nothing! Thanks again both of you Smile

Not long now Anthea - well into packing now & only a few shifts left at work ThumpUp

Our Uncle is out from hospital (two days now) and has 6weeks intermediate care support - doing quite well too - we are going out for dinner with him on Sunday - he needs a zimmer now and lots of rest but is very determined and keeping quite positive. He's no longer allowed to drive so is adjusting to life in the slower lane now but doing well. We are trying to help him stay as independent as poss - he's had a lot to take in these last few weeks, but i will not be quite so worried now ~ we were lucky getting the intermediate support for him.

Talking to Paul it turns out it wasnt Whitby chips he had - it was somewhere else nearby - so we are all looking forward to our first taste of the best fish and chips in the country! Nicky says we may have to camp out to get a place in the queue - they must be popular!

Anyway we'll nip on ahead on the Friday and hopefully get the sun out ready for you on Saturday!!!

Can't wait now :)
